Our Story

Noctura began with a house move.

When we moved into our new home, we kept finding exactly the same problem: the places that really needed a lamp were rarely the places that had a socket.

A dark corner beside a chair. A console table in the hallway. Bedside walls that would have meant chasing cables into newly decorated plaster. Even the garden had places where we wanted a little glow, but certainly not enough to justify calling in an electrician.

We loved the idea of adding more layers of warm, atmospheric light - we just didn’t love the cost, mess or decorating that could come with it.

So we started looking for another way.

What began as a search for beautiful cordless lamps for our own home became Noctura: a husband-and-wife-run collection of rechargeable lamps, cordless wall lights, solar lanterns and decorative shades designed for all those places where a plug simply isn’t where you need it.

We choose pieces we’d genuinely be happy to have in our own home - warm rather than clinical, decorative rather than overly technical, and lovely enough to look good even when they’re switched off.

Our style is relaxed, characterful and just a little bit eccentric: natural textures, pleated shades, antique finishes, interesting pattern and plenty of soft light after dusk.

And you may notice the occasional moth along the way.

We rather like the idea of being drawn to warm light.
